Central asian textiles were produced by nomadic, peasant and urban groups. The differences between these three groups reflect the cultural influences within their domestic and ritual environments, particularly in the use of textiles for decoration.
Other kind of central asian pieces were the textiles of townpeople. In urban centers, men in workshops produced ikat-dyed silk and women, in their home, cotton silk embroidered textiles.
Peasants and nomads were interdependent, their relationship exchanges and their similar environments appear through the use of textiles for decoration and similar form between these two origins of central asian textiles: decorative bands for blankets, wall hangings, floor covers and other asian decorative textiles.
Central asian nomads, genious for packaging, wove special rugs to make their furnishings, textiles, rugs safe for travel : felt bag for ends of the yurt beams, mirror pouches, saddle bags, large bags either knotted or woven as tent bags to store clothing, bedding and domestic items.

in the major cities via the Silk Road were embroidered the most beautiful central asian textiles called suzani.
